Letter to the Editor: Scholarship deadline extended to March 15

To the Editor:

The Boca Grande Womanʼs Club Scholarship Committee will begin to review applications in the near future, and want to announced an extended deadline of March 15.

Qualified seniors in high school are either residents of the island or have a parent who has been working in Boca Grande for at least two years.

In order to qualify, students from Lemon Bay High School should receive and complete a scholarship packet from Mary Jo Holleran, the senior guidance counselor. This packet includes recommendations, high school grades and class rank, extra-curricular activities and a goal statement.

For those seniors not at Lemon Bay, the Boca Grande Womanʼs Club has its own application. In addition, qualified adults pursuing a college degree are encouraged to apply.

This application can be obtained by writing to the BGWC, attention: scholarship chairman, PO Box 65, Boca Grande, 33921.

Remember, the deadline for receiving all applications is March 15, 2013.
