To the Editor:

I wanted to update everyone on my dad’s condition. We found out yesterday that he has had a setback in his recovery. The infection in his legs has returned and he will be gettng a PICC line put in Thursday.

He will be going to his infectious disease doctor every morning in Port Charlotte to have I.V. antibiotics injected. We don’t know how long we will have to do this.

There is also the possibility he might have to be re-admitted to Peace River if they can’t get the infection under control. He will be getting weekly blood tests to make sure everything is going well. We still have home health coming to the house every other day for bandage and wound vac changes.

There is a donation fund set up at gofundme.com called Capt. Jimmy Rehabfund.

Thank You.

Editor’s note:
Capt. Jimmy sustained a simple injury to his left foot and leg in early July, which led to something called necrotizing facsiitis. It is also known as a flesh-eating disease. He almost lost his leg, and has since had several surgeries. The family’s insurance only covers a portion of his hospital bills.
