Read more...STAFF REPORT - On Sunday, Oct. 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. join the Hudson’s Relay For Life team for a bake sale in the park next to the store. The proceeds will benefit the annual American Cancer Society Relay campaign.

This team knows how to cook. As a word of warning, prepare your taste buds for many, many scrumptious treats.

A bad day on the water is better than a good ... oh, never mind

 

Read more...If there was ever such a thing as a bad day on the boat, it happened to the poor souls who had just purchased this Regal the day before this picture was taken. It washed ashore after stalling, but luckily no one was injured. This picture was taken the morning of Thursday, Oct. 4 at the south end of the island.

Chamber seeks nominating committee

 

STAFF REPORT - The Boca Grande Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking a nominating committee, comprised of five members of the chamber. Any new officers and directors will be announced at our annual meeting in January.

Nominating committee by-laws can be found on the Boca Grande Chamber website under the tab “Join the Chamber,” or you may request a copy of the by-laws from the chamber office by calling 964-0568.

This process is an important part of being a member of the Boca Grande Area Chamber of Commerce, and is designed to ensure that the Board of Directors fairly represents the membership. Contact Lew Hastings at the Boca Grande Area Chamber of Commerce by October 20 if you are interested in being a part of the nominating committee.

Profile: Judy Still – always patient, always loving, always teaching

 

Read more...BY MARCY SHORTUSE - When Judy Still was looking through the classifieds in a local newspaper, she found a very interesting job prospect. It was the description, though, that didn’t make much sense to her.

It said, “TIS Rosa,” leading her to wonder just what a “‘tis Rosa” was.

As it turned out, it meant that The Island School was looking for a reading specialist, and the contact person was then-principal Rosa Ramos.
