As part of its annual spring show, the Boca Grande Art Alliance – in partnership with the Boca Grande Garden Club – will present a new exhibit of visual and floral artistic collaboration called “Art in Bloom.”

The opening reception will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 21, with music provided by the Boca Notes Trio. The show will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, March 22 through Sunday, March 24.

Artwork and floral interpretations of selected paintings will be featured in both the Crowninshield House and Art Alliance buildings. The show is sponsored by the Englewood Bank & Trust, with special thanks to Randy and Ginny Bell.

This will be an amazing event where the works of our artists inspire the creative efforts of members of the Boca Grande Garden Club,” says John Mitchell, chair for the spring event. “We are so excited for this partnership between these two important members of the Boca Grande community.”

Garden Club floral artists doing the interpretations will be Sylvia Barany, Nell Cox, Georgia McGurl, Jodie Pearah, Sue Reske, Melanie Sullivan, Judy Thomas and Marguerite Tremelin.

“The objective is not to create a literal copy of the painting,” explains Marguerite Tremelin of BGGC. “Rather, floral artists will find design inspiration from what speaks to them in the painting: color, line, shapes, flow, textures, mood and so on.”

Among the floral designers are some who have exhibited in similar events around the country.  All have been encouraged and inspired by the Garden Club’s impressive presentations and workshops from world- renowned designers.
