Acclaimed Botanical artist visits Boca Grande Art Alliance

Katherine Manisco
Katherine Manisco is a graduate of the Slade School of Fine Art, London University, and also studied art at the Accademia Dell’Arte in Florence. The artist is a Linnean Society of London Fellow,  a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists (ASBA), the Chelsea Physic Garden Florilegium Society and the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, DC.

Her paintings are in the permanent collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London; The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, England and the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation, Pittsburgh, PA.

Her work is included in the collection of Dr. Shirley Sherwood, and has been published in Dr. Sherwood’s books, including “Contemporary Botanical Artists,” and “A Passion for Plants.”  Dr. Sherwood’s collection is internationally known and has been shown at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, the Denver Art Museum and Oxford’s Ashmolean Museum.View More images >>

Katherine Manisco’s watercolors are included in the Highgrove Florilegium, which is under the aegis of the Prince of Wales’ Charitable Foundation.  In 1993, she was awarded the Grenfell Medal by the Royal Horticultural Society and in 2002, she received the annual Award for Excellence in Botanical Art from the ASBA. Her extensive list of exhibitions includes solo shows at the Colnaghi Gallery, London, 2003; the Artis Group, Palm Beach, 2003 and the Limonaia, Boboli Gardens, Palazzo Pitti, Florence in 2004.
