No change to GIBA nameplates

BY LIZA STROUT - Wednesday’s quarterly meeting of the Gasparilla Island Bridge Authority board was full of good news.

The executive director’s report, delivered by Jim Cooper with a smile, included the tidbit that the south bridge isn’t the only part of the Orion-run project that is ahead of schedule. Originally planned to wrap up around Christmas this year, the center bridge project is now expected to be finished much earlier, closer to Halloween.

Also, the results of the FDOT-funded swing bridge inspection are in, and while there are a few minor repairs that need to be made to the structure, there is nothing of major concern.
