Sheriff’s deputies busy with jewelry, golf cart thefts

 

df6eadad2d4bd6ef5dcd68a55d2b3652.jpgRecent reports of a jewelry theft, vandalism to a vehicle and a stolen golf cart have been investigated by the Lee County Sheriff’s Department in Boca Grande.

On Tuesday, Jan. 15 deputies were called to the 1000 block of 10th Street, where a woman said that jewelry had been taken from her bathroom sometime after January 11.

According to reports, the items that were missing, which were put in a glass jar on her bathroom counter, included a diamond, three-stone engagement ring valued at $28,000, a gold wedding band with a value of $3,000 and some earrings with a value of $120.

There was no sign of forced entry.

The complainant later called and told deputies the jewels were in her suitcase the whole time. No theft.

Also on Tuesday, Jan. 15 deputies were called to the parking area across from Boca Grande Marina, where the complainant said someone put a large scratch in her vehicle, from the driver’s door to the driver’s rear quarter panel.

On Saturday, Jan. 19 deputies met with a person in the 300 block of Park Avenue in reference to a stolen golf cart.

According to reports the complainant said the cart must have been taken sometime between the late evening hours of Friday, Jan. 18 and the morning of Saturday, Jan. 19.

The cart was later found on the island and returned to its owner.
