The 11th annual Turkey Hoop Shoot, held last Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Boca Grande Community Center, was just as action-packed and competitive as it has been in years past. More than 70 participants came out to win trophies, basketballs and, of course, turkeys.

In the “4 years & under” (co-ed division) category, Angelina Doherty (above) made 8 for 15 in finals. In the “5 & 6 years” (co-ed division) category, Wyatt Bush took the lead with 2 for 5 in a sudden-death round.

In the girls’ 7-and-8-year-old division, Mae Phelan cleaned up, making 12 for 15 shots. For the boys of that age, Logan Miller took the lead.

In the division for 9-and-10-year-olds, Karoline Bellamy shot 7 for 15 to take the girls’ title, and Miles Arbaugh shot 10 for 15 for the win.

In the ages 11 to 14 group, Jacquelyn Moseley shot 4 for 15 to take first in the girls’ division, and Joseph Garza took it for the boys with 10 for 15.View More images >>

For the “15 & Up” division, Nicole Coleman took it for the ladies, making 1 for 5 shots in a sudden death round, and Daniel Martinez shot 10 for 15 to take the boys’ title.

The prizes for the contest were donated by the Friends of the Boca Grande Community Center.
