Shortwaves at the island lights

The Englewood Area Radio Society (EARS), will be on island this weekend for their annual Lighthouse Event.

This year, for the first time, the Coast Guard has given permission for the group to set up a radio at the Range Light, as well as their usual radio at the Boca Grande Lighthouse.

The Society will be be broadcasting and receiving from the island between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

In years past, the club has contacted operators as far away as South America.
