BY MARCY SHORTUSE - A  new “Think Out Loud” Production is coming to big screens in the very near future, and may be one of the first international steps taken to preserve our tarpon fishery.

“Rich History ... Priceless future: The Tarpon of Boca Grande Pass” is a 7-minute video designed to enhance people’s understanding of how vital the megalops atlanticus is to our ecosystem and our culture. Starring several locals and others, it will be previewed at Mote Marine Laboratory on the weekend of November 2 to the Youth Ocean Conservation Summit, an organization that provides youth participants the opportunity to learn about current threats facing marine ecosystems globally and locally.

On Saturday, Nov. 10 the short film also will be previewed at the Boca Grande Community Center Auditorium at 4 p.m. After the film a “meet-and-greet” will be held in the Woman’s Club Room, where Sean and Brooks Paxton will be present, as well as Lew Hastings, the executive director of the Boca Grande Area Chamber of Commerce.

Cameo appearances were made by Capt. Willie Mills, island animal specialist George Cera and Hastings. Other appearances are made by country singer Colton James and Dave Chafin from the Guy Harvey Foundation.
