BY MARCY SHORTUSE - Boca Grande Health Clinic patients have a whole new electronic wealth of information at their fingertips, thanks to a program called “Patient Portal.” It is live and ready to be used now, all you have to do is sign up with the clinic.

According to John Sielert, the clinic’s executive director, this is a program they have been working on diligently since the beginning of summer. It is designed to make access to a patient’s records, appointments, medications and more much easier.

Sielert said this isn’t meant to take the place of face time with doctors, but it makes things much easier.

“Our doctors spend most of their time in examining rooms, and we don’t want to practice medicine over the internet,” he said. “Our patients will still have to come in and see the doctor, the but Patient Portal makes communication easier between you, the patient, and your doctors in different regions.”
