BY LIZA STROUT - It was another successful year for Boca Bargains. This Saturday marked the close of the 2012 shopping season at the island institution, and true bargain hunters were there early to snag their brown paper bags and a good spot in line.

The big news this year was the reinvention of the Bag Lady. After several years sporting the same outfit, she appeared this weekend with a new hairstyle and a smart new dress.

As she announced the final opening of the season, the crowd hummed with excitement. With doors opened, the shelves quickly emptied. More than one person went back to purchase more bags.

Boca Bargains is run by the Boca Grande Womans’ Club. It will reopen in the fall, with a new assortment of goods to attract your eye.
