RPP announces a ‘fewer shows, more fun’ format for 2012-2013

Fewer shows, more fun. That’s the new direction Royal Palm Players announced for its 2012-2013 season.

After successfully producing six plays and seven special events this year, RPP has decided to streamline next year’s offerings. Three plays will be produced, with two in a different venue than the usual Boca Grande Community Center.

Starting November 15 - 18, the beloved story “Tuesdays With Morrie” will play at the Crowninshield House. On February 7 - 10, 2013, Neil Simon’s hysterical “California Suite,” starring ten of Boca Grande’s favorite actors, takes over the community center. Rounding out the season, a concert version of the international hit musical “Godspell” opens on March 7 - 10, 2013 in the beautiful sanctuary of the United Methodist Church during Lent.

RPP will offer two special events, as well. Elvis is ‘in the building” on January 16, 2013 at the Community Center, and The Rat Pack appears there on February 22, 2013.

According to Royal Palm Players President, Erica Ress Martin, “this reinvention was inevitable given the sudden spurt of big events offered by so many other groups on the island. There is just too much to choose from every single day. We want to be the most fun choice and offer something people look forward to.”
