In times of need, many people in the area turn to the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida to feed their families.
It is a call to action for many in Boca Grande, and this season the Spring Food Drive is a great way to give.
According to Thor Johnson (shown above with a food barrel), local Harry Chapin supporters want to collect 2,000 pounds of food by the end of the drive on April 13.
While $10 bags of food are available at Gil’s Grocery, the format has changed at Hudson’s. They now offer cash donation boxes at the checkout counter. Special donation needs include canned goods, peanut butter, dried food products and non-perishables of any sort.
Donation barrels can be found at the Post Office, the Methodist and Baptist Churches and Sea Oats Condominiums.
