One winner and up to three friends will fish in the tournament with multiple time tarpon tournament winning Captain Waylon Millson "Blaze.”

The team will be sponsored by The Cradle, in Evanston, Il., which is one of the most renowned adoption agencies in the country.

The topic of the essay should incorporate the Kids’ Classic mission, which is to “provide a fun and competitive event for youth that encourages goodwill, sportsmanship and conservation while recognizing the Boca Grande community and its tarpon fishing history and traditions.”

Use a fishing story, a conservation story, or just a fun story about Boca Grande.

More details on the tournament are available at GasparillaOutfitters.com under "Events.” All children ages 10 – 15 are eligible.

One essay contest winner will be chosen by the tournament board of directors and that winner will choose the rest of his/her team for a maximum of four team members.

The winning team of the fishing tournament will all win Apple i-Pads. Other great prizes will be given away the day of the tournament, May 21, as well.

Essays must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. Monday, April 16.

Submit essays to Capt. Sandy Melvin, Gasparilla Outfitters, Sandy@GasparillaOutfitters.com, by fax at 964-1611 or send to P.O. Box 1401, Boca Grande, FL 33921.
