Dianne Moffat, a Boca Grande resident and manager at The Pink Elephant, has a personal connection with The Haven Drop-In Center in Port Charlotte, and she has several ideas how to help the facility thrive. She will be holding a drive to collect items for a fund-raising yard sale on Sunday, March 4, on Banyan Street next to the Community Center. They will be collecting from 4 to 6 p.m.

The yard sale will be held on Friday, March 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Center in Port Charlotte, located at 630 Woodbury Drive.

The Center also has an ongoing need for soap, shampoo, and other sanitary products for their clients. Any donations of these items is greatly appreciated.

Recently, Dianne held a fundraiser for The Haven at PJ’s Seagrille, with the help of Kathleen and Jimmy Turner. The wine and jewelry party raised almost $500 for Haven Drop-In Center. The jewelry sold is being re-donated to the Center for the yard sale.

The Haven has a special mission – to help people who have a mental illness to recover from addiction. They offer group therapy sessions, art classes, activities such as creative writing classes and a weekly book club and assistance with finding employment and housing.

Contact The Haven at (941) 613-1450 with questions or for more information.
