Thank you, Good Samaritan

A kind deed in a cruel world can sometimes make all the difference in the world. One of the Beacon’s newspaper carriers had a huge streak of luck this week, after losing his wallet in Port Charlotte.

It’s not often that Good Samaritans appear anymore, but Tim Gielau apparently has a guardian angel. After fueling up his vehicle on Sunday near Books-A-Million, he left his wallet on the hood of his car. He drove away, and the wallet slid off on U.S. 41.

The nameless Samaritan noticed the wallet lying in the road and made a special trip back to retrieve it. Upon opening it he discovered a large amount of money and publisher Dusty Hopkins’ business card inside, as well as Tim’s driver’s license.

After calling Dusty, the man got Tim’s address, put it in his GPS and drove the wallet home to Tim.

He wouldn’t accept the reward Tim offered, but he has our eternal gratitude as a positive role model in this day and age.
