The Gasparilla Inn & Club will be opening the doors of its new bakery on Monday, Dec. 12 at 6:30 a.m. sharp. The two chefs that will be spearheading the project are punctual, precise, and believe that where pastry is concerned ... perfection is key.
It wasn’t just the construction crew at work. The bakery manager, Wendy Backhaus, was behind the counter running the espresso machine to perfect her technique. Executive Chef Peter Timmins and Executive Pastry Chef Peter Wimmler were getting their menus set and checking their equipment.
Hot and iced coffee, loose-leaf tea, pastries, donuts, and sandwiches, among other selections, will be available. They will also be baking their own bread in-house to turn into their artisanal sandwiches into even higher creations of sublime perfection.
A quick tour of the kitchens revealed that new ovens have been installed, the large mixers stand shining, waiting to be powered up, and the counters are gleaming.
The Inn Bakery will be open for business from 6:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. seven days a week.
