The year 2012 is going to be great for the Boca Beacon. We’ve been working hard on a lot of new projects, and one of them is going to be unveiled on December 2.
BocaBeacon.com will be the same address, but the look will be totally new. Our new site will be a lot more interactive, we’ll have lots more room for photos and videos, and we’ll be more user-friendly.
You will also be able to create new subscriptions, and update addresses on existing accounts online.
We’re also going to eventually start up an “e-Edition.” That means you’ll be able to subscribe to our site online, as well as in hard copy. Of course, there will still be information on the web site if you don’t subscribe, but we’ve never had the entire newspaper available for perusal before. Now we will, and in a format that is identical to the newspaper.
We’ll have new advertising opportunities as well. Our web site is, on average, “eyeballed” by 17,000 people a month. Of those 17,000, 10,000 are unique hits.
During season we have gone as high as 25,000 visitors, sometimes even higher.
We’ll still use the same weather radar, as well as Lee County Mosquito Control’s temperature and wind readings. Our web cam will still be available to those who want to wave home.
You won’t be seeing the tired old coconut, though. Sorry.
