Chamber Fall Festival details released

A  street festival, the annual Barbecue Cookoff and family fun have been planned for the Boca Grande Area Chamber of Commerce Fall Festival, to be held on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

This year will be an event designed to welcome back residents and businesses to the island after a long, hot summer away. The street festival will include shopping specials at local businesses, music, games for the kids and, of course, the barbecue cook-off contest that will have the best local chefs competing for the coveted title of “Best B-B-Q in Boca Grande.”

“As in years’ past, your votes will determine the winner so bring your appetite and sample some of the best food you’ll taste anywhere,” said Lew Hastings, executive director of the chamber.

The festival proceeds will benefit the chamber’s events and programs like the Scholarship Award Fund.

“Through strong community support and your sponsorship of events like the Fall Festival, we can continue to support our local young people from high school graduation throughout their entire under-graduate career,” Hastings said. “We hope that you will support this very important annual event that celebrates family, community and friendship, that has been the tradition of Boca Grande residents and seasonal guests for generations.”
