FWC break-away jig study refuted by originating scientist Friday, 17 May 2013 10:06   BY MARCY SHORTUSE - In the summer of 2004 Dr. Justin Grubich picked up the phone to take a call from a woman who said she was with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. The woman, Kathy Guindon, talked with Justin for about 30 minutes foul-hooking tarpon, and he was asked to provide expert witness testimony on how tarpon feed. To the Editor:

I am writing as an individual island resident and not in my capacity as a member of the board of the Gasparilla Island Bridge Authority. As I am sure everyone knows, there will be an item on the November 6 ballot concerning a proposed real estate tax levy to partially pay for the bridge replacements. There are a couple of matters that seem to need clarification.

Read more...BY MARCY SHORTUSE - The Coral Creek Airport has had an air of mystery around it since it opened years ago. What used to be an abandoned airstrip full of cracks and overgrown with weeds has become a sleek, modern aviation facility. A new runway project is currently in the works there, one about which many people have been curious.

The runway expansion doesn’t just cover the concrete, though. Steven Busch of St. Louis, Mo., one of the owners of the airport, explained.
