For those of you who did not know her (and don't recognize her, as we chose a photo of her at about 20 years of age), Mom, though born in Tulsa, lived for many years (as young girl and woman) in Ft. Pierce, FL as well as Ft. Walton Beach, FL (1950s). She loved Florida and knew the State like the back of her hand. I remember instances, driving along a lonely strip of two lane in Florida, and she (for example) would say, "if you turned down this dirt road to the right and went a few miles you would come to a gate with a "no trespassing sign". Just open the gate and go a little further and if you look carefully you will see a little clearing to the left, and if you park and go through that clearing you'll come upon a beautiful, clear pool ......" And so it would go on. She was an explorer (and the occasional "no trespassing" sign could not be allowed to be an impediment to her adventures). She was brilliant and in some ways eccentric and loved and adored by many, many people. She came annually to the Inn starting in 1975 and continued to come to the Inn (and later the Inlet) until she finally bought a home on Tarpon Avenue in 2008. Shortly thereafter she moved here full time. There are many photos of her (from some of which you may recognize her) and notes/anecdotes at www.englewoodfh.com. You will ever be in my heart, Mom.
